GETTING AROUND THE CITY

Explore the Mother city either by car, public transport or simply by foot.

By bike

With the newly upgraded cycle lanes getting around town by bike has become much easier. Rent-a-bike services are available. Rentals from R150 per day

By car

Major highways begin in Cape Town:

  • N1 runs north-east
  • N2 runs along the East Coast towards the Garden Route
  • N7 goes North along to the West Coast

Car rental is relatively cheaper in comparison to Europe. Rates are usually worked out according to the distance travelled. Note that you will need an International driving license written in English.

By bus

The MyCiTi bus routes run between Table View, Parklands, Blaauwberg and Big Bay Areas as well as central Cape Town, Gardens and the V&A Waterfront. Bus schedules are available on line: http://www.capetown.gov.za/en/Transport/Pages/MyCiTibusservice.aspx

By Taxi

Get around by minibus taxis or use the more sophisticated mode of transport, metered taxis.
