There are very few South Africans who are more passionate about sharing life, and creating experiences for the less fortunate, than Adventurer Riaan Manser. Riaan brought a group of 30 under privileged school children to the Volvo Ocean Race 'race-village' today, and provided a day that the children will never forget. They were part of Riaan's own trust, which is called 'No food for lazy man'. After educational messages from the 'keep the Oceans Clean' project, Riaan chatted to the kids about making the most of life opportunities, and the primary message that he put over, was that today was not free. In return for the experience, the kids had to 'pay it forward' to those less fortunate than themselves, and by the time the opportunity came to get onto the water for the first time, it was a mixture of nerves, apprehension, and excitement. The sailing was enjoyed by all, in perfect conditions of sun and a steady breeze, and at the end, a group of 30 young men and woman left with smiles, and a desire to do their part to fullfill a promise. The respect they have for Riaan was reflected in their eyes, he has touched their lives in many ways for months, and one had a feeling that the most excited of the entire group..was Riaan Manser himself.
